The fake cheesecake

That is, the potato cake.

Looking for a post saved in draft, I came across this, wrote on November 13 last year and never posted. Why do you say? Why I wrote it while the cake baked in the oven, and not being certain of the success I said to myself "well, assagiamolo before posting a recipe for something that could be inedible. "Having been greatly appreciated by all those who have tasted it, I can publish it!

Anyone who knows me knows I like to mess in the kitchen, especially if is desserts.
What I do not know is that I do not follow the recipes rarely perfect [I did it once, creme brulee: disaster].

Today I spent in the market, attracted by the sweet potatoes, also known as sweet potatoes, I bought two, two "species" other.
I wanted to eat it in the oven, or baked us a cake.

Well, I'm making a cake.
I'm cooking just now ... I do and maybe even a little baked, so much.
I saw about 15 different recipes for cakes, sweet potatoes and cheesecake, but they had all the ingredients that did not have my pantry instead.
Exit to shop? Not dead.
I did a workout shockingly destructive afternoon, and out again, after plenty of time for shopping this morning, I had not the slightest desire.

Only problem: I almost always do everything by eye. My
doses so they are very suggestive but not very precise, sorry ... This
my absence from the penalty spot, but can be used in your favor! Especially if you are intolerant or allergic to any ingredient if you use gluten-free cookies gluten-free, if you tolerate dairy soy milk, etc.. Potato Cake

Note: the doses are small enough for a pie. Double them to increase the size.

This cake is composed of a base, the filling and a "salsa" [optional] use as a topping / coverage. 'll list below first as do the three components listed above, and then, of course, how to put it all together.

To make the base

Ingredients:
  • Biscuits-type-who-think-you [just give them dry], about 13
I used a mix of Galletti, Pan stars and hugs. You can say the names right? So you know that do not work for the Mulino Bianco XD
  • Butter, about two tablespoons

Procedure:
Crumble the biscuits by hand or with mixer.
Melt the butter in a double boiler [or in the microwave, make sure to put it at minimum power for 6 minutes]
Take a bowl, cover with baking paper, pour in the crushed biscuits and butter. Mix everything and spread the mixture evenly.
Place the bowl in the refrigerator for at least an hour, so as to compact the base

To make the filling

Ingredients: A sweet potato
  • 60 g sugar 1 egg ½ cup milk
  • tangerine juice

Procedure:
Sift the sugar to prevent lumps remain.
Rinse the sweet potatoes and peel them.
Cut it into pieces, put it in a pot and fill it with water. Caution: the water must thoroughly coat the potatoes.
Bring the water to a boil and simmer until the potato is tender [15 minutes]

Tip: do not do the microwave. I cooked half and half in the microwave cooker to see the difference time and [not putting high-power microwave for fear of the outbreak all - as has already happened once] it takes a lifetime. And with a life mean that after one hour was not even remotely tender.

Once cooked, drain and mash with a crushed potatoes, vegetables or even a fork passes. United
egg, sugar, milk [I used fresh whole milk, but I think we can use the type you prefer] and tangerine juice [slightly! I highly recommend] to the mixture and mix well together.
Let it cool / rest for at least a quarter of an hour.


To cover (optional)


To coverage can be used to caramelize the fruit jam. I will use the fruit.


Ingredients:
  • A tangerine, clementine or

Sugar to taste Wash and peel the fruit gently.
Pour about a cup of water in a saucepan, add sugar and place the pan over the heat until it slowly to the boil.
Add the peeled garlic and cook until the water evaporates almost entirely, giving way to a slightly thick sauce.




Finals

Spread the mixture in the bowl that you removed from the fridge, Level.
Bake at 180 degrees for 40 minutes, and then at 160 degrees for 30 minutes.
Let stand for at least 30 minutes.

Cut into slices, pour the cover over the potato cake and enjoy!


[I like it more without the sauce!]
